"Intellectual" Property

I'm not what you what call a big fan of pop music.

I have never been a big fan of the Brittneys, Madonas or Christinas. I own no Destiny's Child CDs. I have no Maria Carey collection.

I don't listen to Top 40 radio. I have no stomach for it.

It, however, is big business, and the magical musical formulas are scientifically tested to compel consumerism. The songs are not written by musicians anymore. They are constructed, one brain-washing element at a time in a laboratory, engineered to embed themselves in the cerebral cortex.

And so, when a hapless dullard like myself wanders within reach of their siren call, it takes very little to lock it in my brain. And there it sits, all day and all night, humming its wicked little melody in the background clutter of my thoughts.

A number of Pop divas have been there recently, causing embarrassing whistling on the elevator. Recently, though, it's been Beyonce and her bouncy little Single Ladies diddy diddling between my ears.

And why?

It's all because of the video.

Oh, but not the Real Video...

No, it's because of the FAKE video. The SNL video, which I have wanted to post for you, but have not been able to because NBC has been Nazi-like in the enforcement of its intellectual property rights. Currently, it's up, though, so I'll post it here for now.

The good (evil) bit is half way through, although the first half is clever too.

Watch it quick though, I suspect it'll be taken down soon.

Oh, and, if you wake up tomorrow with the catchy little bee-boppin beat bouncing around in your head, tough shit. Welcome to my hell.

Doughy old white men shouldn't dance.

    It's a fact of nature.

They shouldn't film themselves having sex either.

I've seen Mr. G&T dance. It took a bribe of booze at a "dry" wedding but when I showed up with the drink, he danced (with me). He probably doesn't want to remember that! but I remember...
