Boys With Cars

I was thrilled to see such an enthusiastic response to the first entry in my "Best TV Theme Song" series. In an effort to capitalize upon the feverish frenzy, I will post two theme songs tonight for your pleasure.

The first is a riveting sequence that got the juices pumping for an inevitable weekly let down. It really was a crappy show with no direction or any hope of resolution (Much like "Lost." Sorry folks.)

Here's Harcastle and McCormick

The next was a more successful venture into the man-boy-adventure genre. The Mustache, the shorts, the car. It's Magnum.

  1. I cried when Magnum PI died and walked away into the clouds. That was a great show.

  2. That Magnum P.I. theme song gets me all pumped up, like your sugar rush from SWAT. After seeing that (in french, no less), I may get off my butt and do something productive with my day.

  4. Dammit, b.s. is one step ahead of me. I was goin to suggest Miami Vice next. LOL

I love that Magnum song... haven't heard that in years. Reminds me of my carefree 1980s childhood when my mom had the TV on all day.

  5. Oh and you'll notice how I won't dignify your horrendous comment about the greatest show on television with an actual retort. You'll notice this. And you will cry.

  6. I remember thinking my dad had reached a new level of coolness when he had a Magnum PI mustache.

Brian only lashes out at Lost because he was too lame to start watching it in the beginning with the even lamer excuse of having been burned by the X-Files. Well, my friend, if you kept watching after Mulder was gone, you were just asking for disappointment.

The opening song to "Baretta" kicks ass too!!! Got to love the Cockatoo. 1975-1978 those were the days. Oh god, that was an Archie Bunker reference.

  9. Right on, Fred! Right on!!

I too pretty much stopped watching X-Files after Mulder left, although I am a fan of Robert Patrick. He just couldn't overcome the smothering lameness.

  10. JJ Abrams. Alias. Not X-Files.

I've been burned by Lost's creator. He puts on a good show of having a master plan and some secret agenda, but in the end, though, Lost will get canceled and you will never get any answers.

  11. I thought you lot sent all your lame shows over here. We never got Harcastle and McCormick, that must have been really bad

    I miss Fantasy Island

Brian, you just take your tv watching too seriously. I don't care if I never find out what the "answer" is for Lost. Its a good show, has interesting characters, and is fun to watch.

And, you did use the X-Files as an excuse for not watching Lost before.

I once babysat for a woman while she was on a date with Tom Selleck. Her dates always drove me home. Alas, not that night.

How can you post a blog about opening credits called "Boys with Cars" without including the Good ol' boys. Wouldn't change if they could. Fightin the system like two modern day Robin Hoods?

  16. Don't you think the Duke boys deserve a whole post to themselves?

Not to mention Crocket and tubbs...

I'm not going to be done with my trial until Wednesday. There are many theme songs to come.
