Alligator Does Not Taste Like Chicken

Alton Brown has a new show airing on the food network. Well, actually, it's the second season of his road-food side project called "Feasting On Asphalt." Alton and his small technical crew ride heavily laden touring bikes cross country (in this case, north along the length of the Mississippi), sampling home style fare, alligator or otherwise, along the way.

Point is, one of is crew members is the show's photographer. In essence, this guy gets paid to ride a motorcycle, take pictures, and eat some of the best food in America.

Now don't get me wrong, my job is great, but really, I don't know who I hate more: that guy, or myself for not being that guy.

    I would watch a show with a diabedic lawyer driving around sampling the pubs and nudie bars of the country.

    It's "Feasting" not "Fasting." Fasting would be dumb. What, they ride around, stand outside the restaurant and say "Damn, I'm hungry. Wish I could eat some of that fried chicken and spaghetti." Dumbass.

    Now Mitch could do a show on fasting. And he could have scantily clad women taunt him with snickers bars. Oh, wait...that was lawschool.....

  4. Hey, Leah's back! Yes, "Fasting" was a typo. It has been corrected.

    Gator doesn't taste like chicken. Gator reminds me of shark. But any of these are great on the grill.

    Traveling to exotic lands and feasting on great food?

    Bleh...

    I skipped the motorcycle and hired a car and driver.

  10. 1. It sorta does taste like chicken... when its deep fried and served with hot sauce (see Ragin Cajun, Manhattan Beach);
    2. Alton does a fine job, but really... that's like saying the pool guy at the Playboy Mansion pays a lot of attention to his work. He drives around and eats food;
    3. Actually Jason and I worked on some pilots for FoodTv - the touring/food sampling concept was one of them. Though, I very much like the idea of the sampling of strip clubs around the globe. Not so much for the Food Network, but perhaps public access, or the Playboy Channel!

Be compelling.
