Married to the Sea

As you know, Dead Honkey, the official web comic of the Gin & Tonic family of blogs, isn't what you would call "funny," at least by commonly accepted standards.

However, every once and a while, you come accross one that is. Thanks to Anonymous for turning me on to Married To The Sea. Here is a sample, but be sure to check out the full site.

Reading for Comprehension:
1. Have you ever cheated at Magic: the Gathering?
2. Who knew that Dr. Brian made shoes in his spare time?
3. Mmmm... disenfranchised farm women! Just sayin...

  1. What we lack in humor over at Dead Honkey, we make up in references to masturbation. Usually involving you.

  2. I'm always willing to lend a hand

  3. Or a pair of shoes.

  4. I never needed to cheat at Magic: The Gathering. I was just THAT good.

My deck was red and blue, and they all feared me. FEARED ME!!!

So was this post intended to reference other blogs in order to increase traffic to your blog?
Ya, thought so. I havent tried the shoe thing but I'm sure its not as exciting as the paper towel roll, blender or carp.

  6. I had an unstoppable Blue deck with a fleet of flying whales...

(what, you people didn't know about my geek tendencies??)

  7. Actually, Dr. Brian, I am receiving no reciprocal hits from Married to the Sea. I just thought it was funny, and I was too lazy to write a real post last night.

  12. Very funny! I'll have to go check out the real site.

Never played M:TG. I was a geek, but tended to be into stereotypically girl geek stuff, like watching The Little Mermaid over and over again and reading the dictionary.

  13. Laura- my mom never bought me Disney movies. I played Magic but not D&D. I was never THAT geeky. I just carried around my deck of cards and read Stephen King whilst sucking up to all of my teachers.

Essentially, that's what I do now. Only blogging has replaced the Magic deck.

  14. Magic: the Gathering is a fantasy card game where two people wage card battle with various creatures, soldiers, and spells. Some people just collect the cards. I had a drawer full of the stuff, which pales in comparison to Carl's 43 volumes of three ring binders organized by color and type. Our kids now play. Scary.

  15. Thank you, Ryan. I knew I could count on you.

  16. And my son has joined a Dungeons & Dragons club at his middle school lead by his Spanish teacher. I am trying to figure out how his character will have sex with harpies with his teacher looking over his shoulder.

  17. Interesting comic - Sort of an angrier version of those used in the Trader Joe's ads (I will leave it to the transplanted Californians to explain Trader Joe's - suffice to say it is the source of all that is good).

Never got into M:TG. My geekiness had transferred over to electronic gaming and such by that time. I did have the rockin lucite D&D dice set though!

...perhaps I have said too much...

And, for Inog - I hear that they print all that stuff in some unnamed hamlet in Southeast Asia...

  18. The King of the Squirrels admits here and now.... At one brief moment, I worked for Wizards of the Coast (makers of M:TG.) Touch my hem, I shall heal thy goiter.

Gee I really thought the Axis & Allis blog would come before Magic the Gathering....but ok.....I guess.....but for the record - Brian does look really hot in his seaworld hat.
